About
Realistic, compassionate nutrition care for your health and relationship with food.
Hi, I’m Tzippy Bernstein, a Registered Dietitian helping people build food skills, nutrition literacy, and sustainable habits without shame or diet culture.
Meet Tzippy
Food should nourish your life, not consume it.
My passion for food and nutrition started at a young age. Growing up in the diet culture of the 90s and early 2000s, I saw firsthand how easy it was for conversations around food, health, and body image to become rooted in fear, guilt, and the pursuit of being “skinny.”
Early on, I realized I wanted to take a different approach. I wanted to help people enjoy food, not fear it. I wanted people to understand how food nourishes and fuels the body without letting it consume their thoughts, emotions, or self-worth.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Food and Nutrition, and a Professional Master’s Diploma in Dietetics. Since becoming a dietitian in 2018, I have worked across a variety of clinical areas including diabetes education (past Certified Diabetes Educator), chronic disease management, mental health, sleep and lifestyle medicine, eating disorders, and family-focused care with clients of all ages.
Over time, I found my niche in providing compassionate, evidence-based nutrition care that supports both physical health and a healthy relationship with food.
Approach
Weight-neutral, body-positive, and grounded in the bigger picture.
I take a weight-neutral and body-positive approach, while recognizing that aesthetic or weight-related goals are not inherently “bad.” What matters most is understanding the motivations, beliefs, and behaviours surrounding those goals.
When food becomes restrictive, exercise becomes something that must be “earned,” or health is measured only by appearance, that’s often a sign that the relationship with food and movement deserves a closer look. You can make healthy behaviour changes leading to other health improvements, such as cholesterol or blood pressure, without a change in your weight.
I strongly believe that patients and families are collaborative partners in their healthcare. You deserve to understand the “why” behind recommendations, not simply be told what to do. My goal is to build food skills, nutrition literacy, and sustainable habits that help people feel more confident making decisions about their health in the long term.
Disordered eating and unhealthy relationships with food have become incredibly normalized in our society, which can make it difficult to recognize when support is needed, especially when these patterns are modeled across generations. I strive to create a supportive, judgment-free space where clients feel heard, empowered, and able to make realistic changes that fit their lives.
Education & Life
Nutrition support for individuals, families, schools, and real life.
In addition to individual counselling, I enjoy providing group nutrition education sessions on topics such as sports nutrition, nutrition fundamentals, and practical food skills for children, teens, families, and schools.
Outside of work, I love cooking, spending time with my family, reading, travelling, and moving my body in ways that feel enjoyable and sustainable.
I believe nutrition is not about perfection or overnight transformation. It’s about building realistic, achievable habits over time.
